CALL FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS Deadline Extended to July 10

The thematic for our call for photographers is incredibly relevant as smoke from wildfires in Canada continues to rise into the stratosphere, then spreading across thousands of miles over North America and the Atlanta Ocean. On that note, we have decided to extend the deadline for As Above, So Below to July 10! The pop-up exhibition will be in Santa Fe, in November, juried by Toby Jurovic, Director of the Barry Lopez Foundation for Art & Environment. APPLY HERE

We are also extending the announcement of artists who will be included in The New Geologic Epoch online exhibition + book. There were over 400 submissions and it will take another week to complete the selection. Thank you for your patience.

Today we formally announce our very first pop-up gallery exhibition in Santa Fe, titled Some Kind of Nature, opening in September. The works selected by artist and curator Dominique Mazeaud, are by members based in New Mexico, Arizona, California, Washington, Colorado, Minnesota, Missouri, Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Canada and Greece. Eighty artists were invited to apply based on a POLL sent out early March. see below

As we do every year in July, membership is 50% off through the end of the year. If you know someone who might like to join, now is a great time to try it out. JOIN US

Some Kind of Nature

September 3 - 23, 2023

FOMA, pop-up gallery at 333 Guadalupe Avenue, Santa Fe, New Mexico

Some Kind of Nature is the title of the ninth track on the Gorillaz’ 2010 album “Plastic Beach,” and is the point of departure for this gathering of artists from across the United States, Canada and Europe. As we have entered the Anthropocene, with human impacts becoming the dominant force of our changing climate, this exhibition presents the role artists can play in having conversations about how humans are contributing to our chances of survival for many generations to come.

Artists include: Moira Bateman, Joan Baron, David Cass, Shirley Crow, Rosalyn Driscoll, Jeanne Dunn, Kelly Eckel, Holly Fay, Bia Gayotto, Karen Hackenberg, Perri Lynch Howard, Stacy Levy, Nancy Macko, Aline Mare, Claire McConaughy, Anna Mein, Mary Meyer, Meredith Nemirov, Lil Olive, Erika Osborne, Catherine Ruane, and Beth Ames Swartz.

"Trying to understand the stones as an abstracted landscape extraction, I carefully studied the surface of a section within these rocks and made a series of graphite drawings. Once these were finished, the area corresponding to the drawing was excavated in the rocks. Out of respect and in consideration for the geological history preceding the finding of these stones, I developed a series of cartographical artifacts, including map sections, latitude and longitude coordinates, photographs and sample textures taken at the sites."
