Wicked Monstrous Artists Announced

Our 2025 Call for Artists, Wicked Monstrous, yielded over 100 artists who will be featured in the upcoming limited edition printed book with a bioplastic cover, as well as online and print-on-demand, launching fall 2026. A big thank you to Aurora Robson and the Vortex Project who have guided the selection of works. see artists listed below (additional artists to come)

This month we will continue the Wicked Monstrous Dialogues with member artists sharing work addressing plastic pollution and screen the documentary Sanctuary, shot exclusively in Lumbini and Kathmandu, Nepal, over the course of three years, including Q&A. see below 

Our 2026 Call for Artists will launch next month titled Water World, inviting artists addressing water issues to submit work for our 2027 printed book. This month we will hear from Scott Bluedorn, who will discuss his ongoing project Microplastic Archive, illustrating found plastic objects while classifying specimens and recording their prevalence, and Shani Nottingham, who will present her plastics project of sculptural installations made from repurposed bread tags saved and sent to her from across the worldAlso, Alejandro Duran, who will share his work made from plastic waste collected along global coastlines, carried by ocean currents .  

Each presenter will have approximately 15 minutes to discuss their work, then Q&A with audience participation following.

2026 Creative Capital State of the Art Prize Artists award has been given to Juniper Harrower

Artists to Work 2025 grants were awarded to Camila de Andrade Bianchi and Saskia Jorda, by the City of Phoenix Arts + Culture Department, Arizona.
